Every year people lose out when they can't get hold of tickets for there favourite festival. Here is a guide to alternative festivals going on in England.

Not everyone can afford to go to Glastonbury, V Festival or The Isle of Wight Festival. Did you sit on the end of a phone this year or at a screen to find out the tickets for your chosen festival had sold out? If you were disappointed or want to go to a festival but on a cheaper scale, here is a guide to some festivals going on through England this summer.

Mouth of the Tyne Festival (Friday 8th July until Sunday 10th July)

This year includes artists such as Beverley Knight, Alexandra Burke, Scouting For Girls, The Buzzcocks and Frank Turner. There are three concerts being held at Tynemouth Priory & Castle. The tickets are priced at £25 on the Friday and £20 on the Saturday. The afternoon concert with The Buzzcocks costs £2.50 for adults, £1 for children over 5 or a family ticket can be purchased for £5.

GuilFest (Friday 15th July until Sunday 17th July)

If you still want to do the festival experience but couldn’t get tickets for Glastonbury or V then GuilFest may be for you. There are a variety of music acts available, including Razorlight, Pendulum, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Rifles, Ziggy Marley and Roger Daltry. An adult weekend camping ticket costs around £120, adult tickets without camping are £110, children (12-15) weekend camping tickets cost £70 and child tickets without camping are £60. There is a wide variety of entertainment available as well as music. This festival will still guarantee you get the true festival experience.

Tramlines Festival (Friday 22nd July until Sunday 24th July)

Tramlines Festival takes place in Sheffield. The festival is free and across a number of venues in the city centre. The line-up for the festival this year includes; Ash, Guillemots, Ms Dynamite and The Futureheads. There are also a number of local acts throughout the city over the weekend.

The Big Chill (Friday 5th August until Sunday 7th July)

The Big Chill takes place at Eastnor Castle and is a festival of alternative, dance, chill-out and comedy. Acts at this years festival include; The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Jessie J, Chipmunk, Calvin Harris and Katy B. There us weekend camping for adults and children. They also offer a two day ticket that allows you entry on Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday.

Lovebox Weekender 2011 (Friday 15th July until Sunday 17th July)

Lovebox takes place in Victoria Park in London. This year acts at the festival include; The Wombats, Example, Snoop Dogg, Jessie J, Katy B, Scissor Sisters and Blondie. Prices for tickets start at £28.50.
